Artist Mindy Belloff creates mixed media installations and fine press editions in the heart of New York City. Complex layered narratives utilizing historic and literary references explore dialogues around societal norms, reframing relevant issues within contemporary viewpoints. With over four decades as a visual artist, Mindy Belloff established Intima Press in 1996 as the only Private Press in Manhattan, located on Union Square since 2004. The Press is committed to traditions of high art utilizing the by-hand craft of letterpress printing, with unique designs and bindings, poetic broadsides, and elegant typography. Her award winning book editions often push the boundaries of the traditional codex, social commentary and non-linear readings. Her re-printing of the Declaration of Independence by Mary Katharine Goddard has helped to write this Colonial Woman Printer back into the historical record. And, her inclusive re-written Declaration stating "all People” are created equal, received a Puffin Foundation grant "supporting creative and innovative initiatives that advance progressive social change." With the greatest care and attention to detail, all the letterpress work at the Press is meticulously printed one at a time to create beautiful impressions.
